The Den & Black Lounge is owned and operated by the University of Calgary Students’ Union.
The Den & Black Lounge has been a student tradition for over 45 years – a regular hotspot for students with two floors of food, beverages, dance and fun, and is located just at the east end of the Food Court. Whether your preference is indoor dining, relaxing on the Black Lounge patio or private partying in the Red Room, this is your place to make it happen.

THE TRADITION
The Tradition began when we, formerly known as Dinny’s Den, opened our doors to students back in 1969 and made our home as the campus restaurant and bar, and a special place for student social gatherings. This was just the start! In continuing this tradition, we have completely renovated The Den to provide a premiere experience and launched a refined food and beverage menu.
BEST BAR NONE ACCREDITED
Best Bar None is a voluntary program for nightlife venues, designed to keep staff and patrons safe while recognizing excellence in the industry. The Den and Black Lounge takes pride in being Best Bar None accredited.
